For many of us, Christmas has become synonymous with Toys for Tots. The program is designed to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December and distribute the toys each year to needy children in communities around the nation. Some of the better-known Toys for Tots programs include Toys for Tots Columbus, Ohio; Toys for Tots Atlanta; Maine Tots Toys; and Toys for Tots of NH.
The foremost goal of the national and local Toys for Tots programs is to send a message of hope to disadvantaged children. The Marines who sponsor the program hope that, through their efforts, children will be motivated to grow into responsible, productive citizens who aspire to leadership positions within the community.
While
we tend to associate the program with Christmas and the Yuletide season,
coordinators conduct a range of activities all year long. These include
golf tournaments, the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Run, foot races, bicycle
races, and other events designed to generate interest, money, and toy
donations.
However, perhaps no single event generates as much attention as the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride. This Toys for Tots ride attracts bikers from communities throughout the country. Bike run tots toys can keep little ones happy all year long. Children from poor homes truly appreciate motorcycle tots toys. However, it is only through a great deal of hard work and dedication that such programs are able to thrive.
While
the program is a service activity of Marine Reservists, literally anyone
can become involved in the effort. All it really takes is a generous
heart, a sense of commitment, and compassion for the less fortunate.
Through the donations of ordinary people like you, this campaign has
become one of the most successful charitable efforts in the nation.
Children throughout the nation are able to enjoy Christmas—the
way that it was meant to be—even if their parents have limited
means. Getting involved in this effort is a wonderful way to spread
Christmas cheer throughout your community—all year long.
